Alan worked clinically for 5 years as an Exercise Physiologist in cardiovascular rehabilitation. While pursuing his PhD in Health Education, he worked with rural heart failure patients. During the dissertation process, some of Alan’s participants died – it was that moment when Alan realized prevention of chronic disease would be his calling. He has been fortunate enough to have secured a job within the Prevention Research Center as a Project Manager. He passionately manages a project aimed at increasing physical activity in rural populations. In his free time, Alan enjoys exercising at the WashU Recreation Center, and going to Cardinals games with his wife, Brooke, and two sons, Liam and Oliver.
